Coba perhatikan sekeliling kalian. Barang-barang apa yang kalian lihat? Kemungkinan besar, ada smartphone di dekat kalian bukan? Mungkin ada juga komputer atau laptop, buku, lampu, televisi, hingga mobil atau motor. Coba bayangkan, apakah barang-barang tersebut sudah ada 5000 atau 2000 tahun yang lalu? Kita harus berterima kasih kepada para penemu atas barang-barang yang memudahkan kita untuk beraktivitas sehari-hari.

Sejak zaman dulu hingga saat ini, para ilmuwan terus mengembangkan teknologi yang dapat menunjang kesejahteraan manusia. Banyak penemu yang berinovasi dan berusaha menciptakan hal-hal baru. Temuan yang berhasil akan digunakan oleh banyak orang dan mendorong ilmuwan-ilmuwan muda untuk mengembangkan versi yang lebih baru lagi.

Jangan salah, kalian mungkin mengenal Leonardo da Vinci lewat lukisannya yang menawan, yaitu Mona Lisa. Tapi selain sebagai seniman ternama, da Vinci juga merupakan ilmuwan dan insinyur yang jenius di masanya. Ia telah mendesain helikopter dan tank bahkan ketika teknologi saat itu belum mampu mewujudkannya. Da Vinci juga menemukan alat tenun mekanik dan gergaji hidrolik. Tidak hanya itu, ia bahkan merencanakan desain kapal selam dan robot.
